Service Description
This Competent Person Fall Protection Training course is designed for supervisors, foremen, safety professionals, and designated personnel responsible for identifying fall hazards and implementing fall protection systems on the jobsite. The course provides the knowledge and practical skills necessary to recognize hazardous conditions, evaluate fall risks, and take corrective actions to protect workers exposed to fall hazards. This training follows OSHA requirements and industry best practices for individuals designated as a Competent Person, defined by OSHA as someone capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions and who has the authority to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate those hazards. Participants will learn how to identify and assess fall hazards, select appropriate fall protection systems, ensure proper equipment use, and oversee safe work practices when employees are working at heights in construction, maintenance, and industrial environments. The course covers key topics including: • OSHA fall protection requirements (29 CFR 1926 Subpart M and applicable general industry standards) • Duties and responsibilities of the Competent Person • Identification and evaluation of fall hazards on construction and industrial job sites • Selection and implementation of fall protection systems including guardrails, personal fall arrest systems, safety nets, and fall restraint systems • Proper inspection, use, and maintenance of fall protection equipment such as harnesses, lanyards, connectors, and anchor points • Development of fall protection plans and hazard mitigation strategies • Ladder, scaffold, and elevated work platform safety considerations • Authority and responsibility to stop work and correct unsafe conditions This course includes both classroom instruction and practical demonstrations to ensure participants understand how to properly inspect fall protection equipment, evaluate jobsite hazards, and implement effective fall protection solutions in real-world work environments.
